In my usual look for stuff to write about I came across an interesting post about HIV and the US navy today. It seems that the US Navy has slightly changed its policy on where it allows HIV positive sailors to be stationed.
Now I don’t profess to be any sort of expert on HIV policy and the military. But it is interesting the US govt and military are continuing to evolve on this issue. People with HIV are often subject to all forms of invisible discrimination that sits outside of the usual realms that we are familiar with, much of which makes no sense whatsoever. Take the whole madness over giving blood as an example. This small, but significant change shows that thought is still occurring and that issues are shifting. It may not be a solely LGBTQ issue but it is one that affects our community nonetheless.
