You may be aware (or not) that the Defense of Marriage Act is on its way to court. A couple are suing for benefits as currently they are denied. The long and short of it is that a group of people (Republicans, I believe) in congress have hired outside lawyers to defend the law in court because the Obama administration has refused to do so.
Today a group of 130 representatives signed a friend of the court brief that says that DOMA is unconstitutional and should be done away with. You can read all about it in the link. I applaud them for doing this and standing on the side of right here. It will be interesting to see how this fairs in court on the day.
Big love,
