Yesterday the democratic congressman, Barney Frank, married his same-sex partner legally here in the US. This is a pretty big occasion. This will make Frank the only person in office in the US to be legally married to his same-sex partner.
Unfortunately Frank is also retiring in 6 months, which, while certainly his right, is a real shame. To have had someone who is so well known in congress continue to serve as a married gay man would have continued to bring much focus to the issues at hand.
But that is just my selfish point of view. Frank has done much for the cause of equality in this country and I am sure that he will continue to do so.
