Graduation speech cancelled because the speaker is gay?

Today’s Link

Greetings one and all.  I am back on track again.  The headache from hell has subsided a little, and I have an appointment with a chiropractor on Wednesday!  Hopefully that will help.  But I digress.  Something else is now giving me a headache and it’s the decision by the Sacred Heart Academy in Michigan to change their mind about their graduation speaker.

As you will see in today’s link, the chap who was going to speak has been removed, purely because he is gay.  Even if you were to go along with that whole “love the sinner, hate the sin” thing, which is really offensive, this still is crazy.  What do they think the speaker was going to say?  Was he going to tell everyone to be gay?  Maybe he was going to tell them all to not give birth to gay babies, as discussed a few days ago.  I have no idea, but the fact that this is happening is very sad indeed.

It seems to be happening more and more as well.  Now that makes my headache worse.

Big love,

Normal service will be resumed soon.

Due to a headache that has been plaguing me now since April 19th, and has today blossomed into the worst headache I have ever had in my life, there is no link or commentary today.  I’ve also taken a break from the current portrait theme as well.

I hope I’ll be back up and running tomorrow.  In the meantime feel free to post any and all headache/migraine remedies as a comment.  I’ll try anything at this point as even the Bupap isn’t working now.

Ohio DJ calls for corrective rape.

Today’s Link

Continuing with our theme of alerting you to the crazies of the world, this time we turn our attention to the state of Ohio.

You’ll see in today’s link that a radio DJ for a Cleveland station called for someone to screw a listeners gay daughter straight. Nice. Is it any wonder that so many LGBTQ teens are depressed to the point of suicide when this what the have to deal with? I would hope that this DJ would be removed from his position swiftly, but seeing as we don’t even need laws to protect gay people this likely won’t happen.
As someone points out in the comments on this article, inciting a crime is also a crime. Except it seems if the victim is LGBTQ. Then it just becomes free speech….

Straight people, I thank you (as instructed by the UKIP).

Today’s Link

Greetings all and a happy friday to you!  Today’s link comes from the good old UK, courtesy of a very confused lady who is a former candidate of the UKIP (UK Independence Party).  For those of you in other parts of the world, the UKIP is a political party that has been gaining ground in the UK by running on all kinds of policies that are often starkly different from the other main parties.  For instance they hate the fact that the UK is part of Europe and one of their main policies is that they would immediately leave the EU if they gained power as it is bad for Britain.  However they don’t have a policy to give back all the money for hospitals, roads, infrastructure, and other kinds of funds that the UK has received from the EU over the last 30 years.  Yes, they are that kind of people, who haven’t always thought things through to the logical conclusion….

Enter the lady who is running for Oxford Council and who was a UKIP candidate in the past.  You’ll find in the attached link that there is a myriad of junk (in my opinion) but the most laughable is that gay people should be thanking straight people for giving birth to us, rather than fighting for equality.  Without straight people, gay people wouldn’t exist, she says.  She’s right, of course.

However, what this lady doesn’t realise is that this completely debunks the idea that all gay people corrupt children and turn them gay.  If that were the case then surely over time there wouldn’t be any straight people left to give birth to gay people.  Oh, but that is often cited too…..I forgot.  This circular arguments always make me confused trying to keep up!

So, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all straight people for the fact that I and other gay people exist.  Clearly this also means that YOU are the cause of homosexuality, because without you there would be no homosexuals.

See, it’s all your fault……   🙂  But I really do love all my straight friends.  In fact, some of my best friends are straight….

Civil unions in Colorado.

Today’s Link

Colorado is a state that has a mixed track record of equality for its citizens. Many of you will remember that it became notorious back in 1992 for passing an amendment that made it illegal to pass ordinances to protect LGBTQ folks from discrimination. They also passed a constitutional amendment in 2006 prohibiting marriage equality.

Today the house, in a bipartisan vote, passed a civil unions bill which will now head to the Republican controlled senate. That’s a big change from the past. I have no idea whether it will pass and the link for today doesn’t give much of an indication either. It is interesting though to see how a state that has such an anti-gay reputation can turn itself around.

I guess we will find out soon whether things really have changed in the Rocky Mountain State. Here’s to hoping!

More on the Boy Scouts.

Today’s Link

Greetings all!  I hope this Wednesday finds you all safe and happy in your part of the world!  It’s funny how when I seem to write about something another link to do with it pops up a few days later.  This is now the third or fourth time that has happened.  I wrote just the other day about the Boy Scouts and their policies in the USA, and now it seems that they have removed a woman from their organisation for being lesbian.

You can read all about this in the link.  The point that I wish people to note is that in the UK the Boy Scouts are legally not allowed to discriminate based on sexuality.  Because the USA does not protect people based on sexuality these organisations are free to do what they want to, hence the situation talked about in the link.  For all of those in the USA who say that there is no need for laws to prohibit discrimination based on sexuality, or who see those as “special rights”, this should provide an example for you to think about.

Discrimination shouldn’t be allowed at all.  Or should it?

More “Don’t Say Gay”.

Today’s Link

So the lunacy that inspired the Don’t Say Gay bill that I posted about the other day is now making its way around the country.  This time it is to be found in the Missouri, though in a slightly modified way.

Down in Missouri their proposed bill is needed to stop people talking about the possibility of people being able to marry goats.  Yes, folks, you read that right.  Check out the link if you don’t believe me.  On a more serious note though, the writers of the bill think that this bill is needed to stop any talk about sex that isn’t directly linked to procreation.  That sounds like a way to codify abstinence only education to me.

Big love!
