A little late because of my attending a conference out of town, so sorry about that for those of you who are used to me being so timely!
Today James and I took the opportunity to visit the GLBT history museum in San Francisco, just off Castro street. It is a small the excellent affair.
You can read more about it on the link and I don’t want to spoil the fun for anyone who is planning a trip but we had a great time. It was very thought provoking and also very reflective. Too often LGBT folks are ignores in our history books and this goes some way to rectifying that. People often ask me why it is necessary as there are no straight museums. My response is that all of the museums are straight in that they don’t mention the LGBT people who have been and who continue to be important.
After all, if Michelangelo had been straight the Sistine Chapel would most likely have been wallpapered.
