Well, it must be the crazy weather at the moment, but this one caught me totally be surprise. Yes, you read the headline correctly. The GOP in Penn. today killed a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited marriage equality in the state.
I hope that there is no more to this than the very short article says, that this really is an act of being good by the GOP, and that it wasn’t done for just some other procedural reason. It would be great to start to see the Republican/GOP start to gather their brains on marriage equality and move forward. It may even help them get some extra votes too, though I am not likely to be one of them.
I’ll throw out England as an example, where we have a Conservative prime minister who is 100% behind marriage equality. Who would ever have thought; maybe the GOP could also head down that road someday.
