Shoud Black civil rights have been voted on in the 50s & 60s?

Today’s Link

Well today’s link is really sad to see.  As you will find out Governor Christie states that Same Sex marriage should go up for a popular vote in New Jersey.  It seems this may be because he sees that it could be voted yes on within the assembly.

More troubling though are his comments that civil rights advocates in the South during the 1950s and ’60s “would have been happy to have a referendum on civil rights rather than fighting and dying in the streets.”

Really?  Not only do you think that marriage rights should be up for a popular vote but you think that rights for African-Americans should have been as well?  Does he not remember that even after the supreme court weighed in there were riots from members of the public who tried to block equality from happening and police and soldiers had to be called in?

Of course he does….he just chooses to ignore that little bit.

Shame on you Governor Christie.

Big love,

DMx
